چکیده

Background: Femoral neck fracture is one of the most common fractures in elderly. Proximal femur elderly patients considered a severe morbidity which has negative impact on life expectancy and quality life. Aim this study was to find correlation cortical thickness index (CTI) SI toward bone density (BMD) female over 60 years age with femoral fracture. Methods: This an observational cross-sectional study. Subjects were selected from Sanglah general hospital outpatient department, Denpasar, Bali during period October 2020 January 2021 by inclusion requirements then randomized into two groups. Data taken through history taking, physical examination as well supporting investigations such contralateral hip joint radiograph BMD measurements. Statistical analysis done those data. Results: It been obtained that there positive Singh (SI) CTI BMD. The coefficient (r) between 0.874 (p=0.000). r 0.854 Both variables significant. Conclusions: There significantly strong correlations (r=0.874, p=0.00), also (r=0.854, p=0.00) fracture.

Candidate Gene Analysis of Femoral Neck Trabecular and Cortical Volumetric Bone Mineral Density in Older Men

In contrast to conventional dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, quantitative computed tomography separately measures trabecular and cortical volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD). Little is known about the genetic variants associated with trabecular and cortical vBMD in humans, although both may be important for determining bone strength and osteoporotic risk. In the current analysis, we tested ...

Relationship of Weight and Body Mass Index with Femur and Lumbar Vertebrae Bone Mineral Density and Content in Premenopausal Women

Purpose: Given that weight and body mass index (BMI) are considered as modifiable factors in osteoporosis, the present study aimed to examine the relationship of weight and BMI with bone mineral density (BMD) and bone mineral content (BMC) at the femur and lumbar vertebrae in perimenopausal women. Methods: In this descriptive-correlational study, we measured the bone density of the femur and...

The Correlation of Bone Mineral Density (BMD), Body Mass Index (BMI) and Osteocalcin in Postmenopausal Women

Background: Osteoporosis is related to the decrease of bone density, osteoporosis requires attention from dentists because it can also occurs in the jaw bone. Osteoporosis is calculated with a quantitative assessment of bone density, which is called Bone Mineral Density (BMD). The best imaging modalities to assess bone density are the Dual Energy examination methods X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)....

Comparison of Singh index accuracy and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry bone mineral density measurement for evaluating osteoporosis

Background: The Singh index is an inexpensive simple method to evaluate bone density, commonly used to assess osteoporosis is based on the radiological appearance of the trabecular bone structure of the proximal femur on a plain antero-posterior (AP) radiograph. The purpose of this study was to compare between Singh index and bone mineral density measurement using dual energy X-ray abs...

Comparison of Outcome of Femoral Shaft Fracture Fixation with Intramedullary Nail in Elderly Patient and Patients Younger than 60 Years Old

Background:   Although intramedullary nailing (IMN) is an established and accepted operative treatment for femoral shaft fracture in patients younger than 60, there is a lack of data on the results of this treatment on those over 60. The purpose of this study was to determine if the outcome of IMN for femoral shaft fracture in elderly patients is also acceptable. Particular challenges in this g...
